As we know, romance is a genre that typically focuses on white, cisgender, and straight women. For Black girls and anyone else who doesn’t share those identities, reading romance always comes with a side of emotional hegemony. (Yuck.)
In this club, we flip that script.
We read romance that’s sexy and fun, sweet and smart, reflects our lived realities… and helps us grow into our power as highly sensitive equity advocates, so that we can better solve for The Behind Closed Doors Effect.
