Because the personal has always been political.

This is a Signature Talk for audiences who are invested in equity and inclusion, but are feeling at a loss over how to get through this moment: one where privilege and power-hoarders are using every tool at their disposal to preserve their position, thereby betraying the rest of us.

The format options range from webinars to keynote presentations, and can be delivered virtually or in person. Regardless of your choice, the conversation will be structured around some of the most powerful romance tropes for sparking insight and spurring action.

Why?

Because romance is one of the best genres for activating our sense of emotional justice. And emotional justice goes hand in hand with other forms of justice: political. Economic. Institutional. Cultural.

In a world where literacy is increasingly weaponized, public libraries are chronically underfunded, epistemicide is a preferred tactic of oppressive governments, and capitalism only values art if it can be commoditized and made accessible to the elite few who can afford it…

…engaging with romance, especially diverse, inclusive romance, allows us to build our capacity to create the kinds of justice we want to see in the world.
