The Fictive Kin Equity Alphabet
This book is part reflection guide, part manifesto, and 100% made for those who want to keep on making powerful social change, no matter what. Each letter represents a key principle, practice, or perspective that will help you on your journey.
The letters are followed by short reflection questions and activities, some gentle(ish) reminders about what’s at stake, and / or the occasional bit of sarcasm and snark… because sometimes, that’s the only thing that gets you through the day, right?
The Alphabet is primarily for people who are near the beginning of their social change journey, and are uncertain about how to keep their momentum going.
However, it will also be of interest to people who have been “doing the work” for a while, and need a little boost to get through their day. Equity practitioners, educators, facilitators, etc., will also find the Alphabet is a useful tool for framing their workshops and activities.

Praise for The Fictive Kin Equity Alphabet:
“Going through the Equity Alphabet, I immediately could see how this is a useful resource for all kinds of people involved in EDI. It could be a great resource for ERGs, and a great tool for facilitating spaces with a EDI focus. It’s written in a way that’s thoughtful, informed and fun.”- Eloise Tan, Ph.D., Vice President, Inclusion, Sustainability and Engagement
“The Equity Alphabet is a wonderful resource for those who are doing the work of unlearning and re-learning through the lens of inclusion. It asks us to reflect on questions that are foundational to caring for ourselves and our communities. I learned so much!” - Mehnaz Thawer, Assistant Director Canada Strategic Pursuits
